Michael Lieberman from Book Patrol has digged a timely infographic developed by Writers Workshop.

The chart compares financial strength of Amazon versus The Big 5 publishers.

It’s pretty clear why the Big 5 Publishers are scared of Amazon. The company is massive, with such a huge revenue advantage that it’s in a different league altogether.

Compared to long-established publishers, Amazon is just a 20-year-old kid – very grown-up, powerful, and with a clear vision where to go.

He became a poet the way other men become monks: as a devotional practice, as an act of love, and as a lifelong commitment to the search for grace and transcendence. I think this is probably a very good way to become a poet. Or to become anything, really, that calls to your heart and brings you to life.
